Behind The Garden Collection

Summer has come to an end, and I'm realizing just how much I'm going to miss gardening once Winter sets in. With our introduction of fresh flowers this year I spent more time in the garden than in years past, and found the habit to bring a sense of calmness and joy at the unexpected.

Like the tiny jumping spider that popped up while photographing zinnias- and gave a me a little fright. There is nothing quite as terrifying as seeing a spider jump at you through a macro lens! It is cute though...

Or the kids faces the morning we woke up to an abundance of Red Admiral butterflies. 

In this collection you will find a range of images taken throughout the Summer, due to that there may seem to be a bit of a mix in styles, lighting and direction. However, I felt each image deserved a spot in the collection and it was a nice breakaway from the stricter rules I place on myself when creating other, more cohesive collections. 

Some images, like the jumping spider, were included simply for their element of fun and I wanted to convey the joy I felt while photographing them. Others, you may feel are closer to my past work, "Aria's Daises" highlights the delicateness of the flower petals (and will be gracing the walls of my daughter's room soon). 

The four "Green" images may be my favorites, giving a sense of calmness that would fit well into a number of décor styles. Lastly, as with all of my collections, there are a few more abstract pieces. These abstracts were taken of snapdragons, and used a mix of play on shutter speeds and intentional camera movement. If you look closely, you'll be able to see the outline of the flower shapes still visible.
